Dr. Din Lam is a board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon. He received his oral and maxillofacial surgery training at Columbia University. Upon completion of his residency, he went on to pursue fellowship training in head and neck oncology.
Before moving to Charlotte, NC, Dr. Lam spent his prior career in academia at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). During his tenure at VCU, he co-authored three textbooks, published four peer-reviewed articles, conducted eight clinical research projects, and presented numerous abstracts at conferences.
In 2014, he moved to the hometown of his wife, Sue, in North Carolina to raise their two beautiful children. In his free time, Dr. Lam enjoys spending time with his family and watching his children grow into young adults. Dr. Lam clinical interests include dental implants, pathology, oral cancer, and reconstructive surgery.
All-on-4 is a revolutionary and cost-effective technique that allows us to place a full set of fixed teeth on just four dental implants. The change will transform your smile and your life.
Dentistry can now give you another set of teeth that look, work and feel like you own natural teeth….. only perfect!
All-on-4 dental implants are an easy way to replace missing teeth or dentures using modern technology and materials. They are perfect if you have dentures or are missing many of your natural teeth.
An implant is a small titanium screw that fits inside your jawbone and replaces the root-part of a missing tooth. Minor surgery is required to insert the implants. Once the implant is in place, a crown is attached to give you a highly realistic-looking and functional prosthetic tooth.
Here’s where it gets really interesting: You do not need a dental implant for each and every one of your missing teeth. All you need is four precisely placed implants on the top of your mouth, and four on the bottom, to restore your full smile. That’s the beauty of the all-on-four. And because the implant is made of titanium, it has the unique ability to fuse to living bone and function as part of it. So eventually, the dental implant becomes part of the jawbone and serves as a strong, long-lasting foundation for your new teeth.
Wondering about the costs? You’re not alone! Each patient has different dental implant needs. That’s why we offer a complimentary consult to go over treatment costs. There’s no hidden fees and you’ll get all the costs upfront.
Often, we can find a solution to fit your budget. For payment, we accept checks, cash or credit cards. We also offer flexible payment plans via CareCredit and Lending Club. For qualified patients, your monthly payment can be as low as $399/month.
Patients with bad credit history, our Financial Coordinator will help provide you alternative option to make it affordable for you. Our team is dedicated to helping you find a solution to afford treatment. Generally, you can save hundreds with us over corporate dental implant centers. Come see us for a second opinion or to find out your options.
Dr. Lam remains active in both state and local societies. He is honored to have the opportunity to serve and care for patients in this community. He is also the founder of the study club, “Greater Charlotte Study Group.”
Perhaps due to his humble upbringing, he treats staff like extended family. All of our staff members care about our patients, share the same practice philosophy, and are passionate about the growth of our practice, which allows for cohesive teamwork.
Let us make you smile confidently again!

There are many practices out there that will offer you similar services, but it is often difficult to choose which practice to trust with your dental health. In my opinion, the best way to differentiate between them is to ask your doctor the right questions. The following Q & A helps illustrate how our practice differs from the rest.
IS YOUR DENTIST WELL TRAINED?
Giving you back beautiful teeth in one day is not an everyday procedure; it requires years of surgical training. A weekend surgical course here and there won’t provide your dentist with enough clinical exposure. Complications such as sinus exposure, nerve injury, and infection may arise during the course of treatment, and if they do, you want your doctor to have the experience to manage these issues.
HOW OFTEN DOES YOUR DENTIST PERFORM THE PROCEDURE YOU NEED?
Like everything else in life, to perform surgical procedures well, dental surgeons need to perform procedures on a regular basis. This is what we do every day at our oral and facial surgery practice; you won’t see us doing dental cleanings, fillings, or root canal therapy. Thus, we are excellent at our job.
HOW DOES YOUR SURGEON UTILIZE AVAILABLE TECHNOLOGY?
When you are selecting a surgeon, many will show you an array of equipment to which they have access. However, if they don’t know how to utilize the equipment at its full potential, it can be distracting. Many high-tech gadgets are not needed for dental surgery and do not necessarily improve patients’ outcomes. In our office, we utilize 3D X-rays to not only evaluate the condition of the jaw but also extrapolate the data to fabricate a surgical guide with our 3-D printer. When a computer-generated surgical guide is used in appropriate situations, it improves the patient’s outcome and decreases the time required for surgery and recovery. It is practical knowledge about the equipment that makes your surgeon great—choose the person, not the tool!
DOES THE SURGEON HAVE ANY BEFORE AND AFTER SURGERY PICTURES TO SHOW YOU?
A competent surgeon is willing to show you the results of previous surgeries. These pictures should reflect both the best cases and average results. Your surgeon should be able to provide multiple references to patients that have had similar procedures and are willing to discuss the surgery, recovery, and experience with the practice. We can refer you to a number of satisfied patients..
CAN YOUR DOCTOR SEE YOU QUICKLY WHEN COMPLICATIONS ARISE?
Some offices will hire a “traveling” oral surgeon to perform surgery. These surgeons will come to the practice once a week or month, and many of them are located far away from the practice. You may meet the surgeon briefly or not at all before the surgery, and your after-surgery care will be delegated to non-surgical dentists or office staff. Asks your surgeon, is this his primary practice? If so, when complications arise, is he readily available to answer your questions and manage your after-surgery care- not next week or month, but NOW!
IS YOUR SURGEON PERSONABLE AND CARING, AND WILL HE OR SHE LISTEN TO WHAT YOU WANT AND BE THERE FOR YOU THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE SURGICAL EXPERIENCE?
Although the procedure gives you back your smile instantly, the recovery and overall treatment process can take months. It is important to select a surgeon who is involved in your care from the very first appointment; you want to feel special, not like a number in a long list of patients. In addition to being accessible, your surgeon should be personable and caring. Many surgeons are egoistical because they have more letters after their names, which can be intimidating. At our practice, we believe that being down- to-earth helps ease patients’ anxiety and allows them to ask the right questions during the interview process.
CAN YOU PICK UP THE PHONE AND SPEAK WITH YOUR SURGEON?
This is perhaps one of the most important qualities to look for. Dr. Lam gives his cell phone number to all surgery patients because we feel that communication is important. Although we do this type of surgery every day, for many patients, this is a once-in-a-lifetime event. Patients frequently have questions about their surgery, evaluations, healing, after-surgery care, and so on. Thus, we believe that it is important to directly contact your doctor and make sure you can ask the simple questions that have been bothering you. In our opinion, if you cannot speak to your surgeon, you may have chosen the wrong one!
IS YOUR SURGEON INVOLVED IN ACADEMICS OR TEACHING?
Every doctor is obligated to offer his or her patients the latest advances in their field. The best surgeons, who are passionate about surgery, are usually active learners, teachers, and authors of articles in medical journals and textbooks. Thus, they are aware of cutting-edge findings and procedures. I have co-authored three textbooks, and numerous textbook chapters, and multiple scientific publications. He is also a founder of the local study club for general dentists – Greater Charlotte Study Group. It is our practice philosophy to bring academic excellence to everyday practice.
The staff is one of my biggest assets of our practice; they are truly the center of the practice and are more important than any fancy equipment in the office. Perhaps due to my humble upbringing, he treats his staff like extended family. All our staff members care about our patients, share the same philosophy regarding dental practice, and are passionate about the growth of our practice, which allows for cohesive teamwork. No one person can do it all, and so a team of professionals is eager to help bring back your smile. I am glad to have them on my side. I hope you have the opportunity to meet them too.
DO YOU HAVE A GOOD FEELING ABOUT THE DOCTOR AND HIS OR HER STAFF?
IS YOUR SURGEON HIGHLY CRITICAL OF HIS OR HER COMPETITION?
Beware of other surgeons whom are highly critical of their competition. This is usually a sign of insecurity and/or jealousy. There is never a problem with seeking a second opinion. Doctors that bash or talk down about other surgeons usually have something to hide and the patient should beware. You can bet if a surgeon talks bad about their competition, they also talk bad about their patients. In the business of surgery a bad surgeon does not stay in business long. Every patient who is treated by a surgeon is a walking advertisement. Most doctors are very sincere about providing quality surgery, the ones that do not won’t stay in business.
